About us

The 'Friends of' group was formed on 1st Aug 2016 to secure the long term future of this lovely green space that is Whitecotes Playing Field, once known as Foolow Field or the Cow Field.
 
It is entered by Boythorpe Cemetery, Hazel Drive, Hucklow Avenue, Whitecotes Park and Whitecotes Close.
 
Our plans are to improve the facilities for children and provide paths, seating and access for the disabled. At the same time we want to protect the wildlife and preserve the countryside feel of the place with its wonderful views which are enjoyed by so many of  those in the local community.
 
Hopefully these measures will make the field more accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
 
As well as the Big Lottery funding we are awaiting a decision for the granting of further funding to enable us to continue our plans to make the field more inclusive for all to enjoy.
 
We have already installed two noticeboards, one at Hazel Drive and the other at Hucklow Avenue.
