Received from Sarah Poulton at Chesterfield Borough Council regarding the new Tree Warden Scheme: Under the banner of the Tree Council, the borough council are setting up a tree warden scheme here in Chesterfield. It will give people in the community chance to get involved in all manner of tree activity. If you are passionate about trees, this is for you. There are clearly a lot of groups and individuals in Chesterfield who have a shared interest in trees. I am also acutely aware that nowadays in general people don’t have a lot of free time to give. We are looking for people with different strengths but we aren’t looking for specific time commitments. We want to be flexible in our approach to allow for a big take up. This could include people with good tree identification skills (to develop a tree trail for example) or others who are people orientated (to help at community tree plantings).
Being linked to the Tree Council will allow for resources to be available, such as training, so if your tree knowledge is limited there is opportunity to learn. There should be a press release going out soon but please find attached a poster which explains the scheme and how to get involved. Hopefully, in a month or 2 we can officially launch the tree warden scheme but in the meantime we would like to establish a group of interested people. Please do feel free to pass this email to friends / family / other groups in Chesterfield who you think may benefit. If you have space to display a poster that would also be really appreciated.
